” Welly boot land is perfect for children and they love feeding the ducks”
“Welly Boot Land is great for the pre-schoolers to get wet, the sandpits are great and there are plenty of activities for older kids.”
Above are just some of the comments left on renown attraction/ travel review website Trip Advisor about the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Slimbridge Wetlands Centre. As well as a fantastic place to see birds , their interactive and education playground is still as popular as it was in 2004. After eleven years it is as popular as ever.
Artificial Grass in green to was used to create the riverbanks and islands with the same product in blue to give the impression of water,’ said SSP’s Project Manager Andrew Lofting ‘and our recycled product ProPlay was used to give the artificial grass surface added safety around the play equipment. ProPlay offers tested critical fall height values of 1.3m, 1.6m and 3m and is made from recycled polyethylene foam from the automotive industry’.
The Slimbridge outdoor play area called ‘Welly Boot Land’ was designed to been an interactive play area involving the flow of water. Children are encouraged to put on their Wellington boots and become involved with the flow of water. A Dual Textured system was used to create a man made stream and simulated bore holes, similar to those used in Africa; so that the area can help children understand the source and flow of water. ‘We used our LifeStyle Synthetic Grass for Welly Boot Land for the main leisure area’ said Andrew ‘and our wet pour rubber surface to create the areas for water to flow. We utilised our experience in educational themed surfaces from our work with schools to work in conjunction with the team at Slimbridge to create this facility. The results are spectacular.’
