St Giles Specialist School for Physical & Sensory Needs is based in Croydon. The school caters for children with a wide spectrum of physical needs from wheelchair users to children who are very mobile. Their existing sports area had become worn and didn’t include a boccia court. Boccia was made very popular by the London Paralympics and the school recently sent a team to the London Youth Games Boccia.
Below is the surface before the resurfacing.
The new wet pour sports surface has been designed to be more inclusive and feature a running track , boccia court and table tennis table.
Wet pour rubber sports surfacing is just one of the uses for wet pour rubber in primary schools. As a sports surface it’s impact absorbency can mean less stress and strain on joints and also a soft surface to fall onto.
Wet pour can be used to provide the following sports and playground surfaces:
- boccia court
- multi use games area
Wet pour rubber can also be used as a shock pad underneath artificial grass sports surface for 3g and 4g pitches. A layer of rubber is laid beneath the artificial grass . A school sports surface doesn’t often require a fifa rates sports surface (although we can supply a fifa or fa rated surface if required), a sand dressed or filled synthetic grass pitch often exceeds customers expectation. Sand filled/ dressed pitches are suitable for multi sports , football and tennis.
