MUGA multi use games area provides a sporting chance for youngster on a Southend Estate.
Southend council as part of it’s regeneration of the area, purchased a MUGA (multi use games area) sports court to provide play and sports facilities for local children. Following the demolition and clearing of a block of flats on Coleman Street, the residence were consulted on the facilities they wanted to see. Activities for the youngster was a high priority. As well as the sports court, an art project is being run around the court. A barbecue and party followed the opening of the sports court. The Better Queensway Project funded the sports court purchase.
No longer is community football relegated to dusty fields and puddles on uneven tarmac. Free football is available following a court installation. Community sports and activities have a focal point which they are proud of.
