Algae will establish itself in a synthetic sports surface and become most evident when the porosity of a surface is reduced. Algae will gain it’s food source from water and as such will flower and bloom when the food source is most apparent during warm, wet and damp periods of the year. Most often found inn autumn through to spring. The algae bloom is very slippery and hazardous and is often confused with mud. The only effective process it to remove the food source and the algal spores through a rejuvenation process.
