The members at the NPL Sports Club in Teddington expressed their thanks and praise for the recent maintenance service carried out on the artificial grass tennis courts at their club. The Vice Chair took the trouble to e-mail
‘Just wanted to feedback how delighted we are with the improvement in our synthetic courts after yesterday’s maintenance work. They have really been transformed and look great. I wanted to thank your Operative for his hard work, and also to say how willing and pleasant he was, despite the fact that all the nets were still up as the courts were being used right up till 10.00 am yesterday by the coaches. He was such a help, taking all the nets and net posts down and just getting on with the job in hand. We very much appreciate the care he took and his attitude to the fact that we were a bit unprepared! Best regards, Philippa’
SSP’s maintenance division manager said ‘It was a delight to meet with Philippa and inspect the artificial grass tennis courts at her club with her. It was explained that the club are looking to replace the artificial courts at some point in the near future and that they were aware that they had neglected them to some degree. The artificial grass tennis courts are set in a beautiful location in the grounds of the National Physical Laboratory that back onto Hampton Court and we look after a number of tennis clubs in the area Such as The Lensbury Club, Coombe Wood LTC, The Hurlingham Club, and Roehampton Club. The artificial grass courts are beginning to look a bit tired although the artificial grass carpet itself and the infill were generally in reasonable condition given their age. The artificial grass carpet joints are the main problem and will ultimately be the major cause of replacement. Although we train our Operatives to act with the utmost professionalism it is always good to get such feedback and the Operatives appreciate members’ kind words for their efforts’
Artificial grass tennis courts require regular maintenance to keep them in a good and safe condition, and to help maximise their longevity. Regular maintenance should consist of the killing off of moss, the removal of dead moss, the lifting of the carpet pile and decompaction and cleaning of the sand infill, together with artificial grass carpet seam checking and repair.
