rejuvenation - infill replacement
Artificial Grass and All Weather Pitches, Astro Turf Surfaces including Synthetic Turf MUGA's, and Artificial Grass Tennis Courts will benefit from a rejuvenation process after a period of time. The most drastic form of cleaning a synthetic surface, and generally used for surfaces that have had little or no maintenance but which are subject to intense use. The surface will be hard and compacted with very poor drainage. Contaminants will be readily visible on top of the surface especially toward any constructed fall or dipped area.
The rejuvenation process: The surface is swept and cleaned of surface debris. The surface is then subjected to moisture to dampen the sand and bind the infill and the contaminants together. The contaminated infill material is extracted from the surface to an approximate depth of between 10 and 14mm using a rejuvenation machine.
The extracted infill material is removed from the synthetic grass area. The remaining infill material below 10-14mm is agitated and decompacted. The carpet fibres are separated, opened up and lifted. New infill material is applied and distributed to the appropriate levels.
