INSTALLATION GUIDE – DO IT YOURSELF

Typical Garden Before InstallationTypical Garden Before Installation

STEP 1

Measure the area using our guide to help you calculate the amount of Artificial Grass you require.

STEP 2

Strip out grass, weeds and vegetation.  Grade soil to approximate levels and consolidate.  Remove any large or protruding debris.

STEP 3

Spread a thin layer of sharp sand over the area to screed it and offer a level even base and consolidate.  Type 1 MOT Stone can be used, but a sharp sand screed should be installed over the Type 1 MOT Stone.

STEP 4

The installation of a geotextile sheeting is recommended although not necessary.  The geotextile will help prevent weed growth from the sub-base.  If using the ProPlay impact matting geotextile sheeting is not necessary as it is incorporated in the ProPlay Mattering.

STEP 5

Roll out the Artificial Grass, ensuring the base is not disturbed.  Use the Artificial Grass to its best advantage to minimise cuts, joints and wastage.  Please note that if joining ensure the grass is laid with the pile running in the same direction.

STEP 6

Cut the Artificial Grass to shape.  A sharp Stanley knife is best, but use with care and safety.

STEP 7

Join the pieces of carpet together where necessary.  For widths over 4m cut off the Manufacturer’s strip and butt the two edges of carpet together.  Fold back edges and position jointing tape (smooth side down) under the carpet so that the intended carpet join is in the centre of the tape.  Apply the jointing glue to the upper (rough side) of the tape.  Press the carpet down into the glue and weight it down to ensure good contact until the glue has cured.

STEP 8

Apply infill to the Artificial Grass brushing in as you go and building up the levels.  Do not apply all the infill in one application.  Application is best when the weather is dry.  Brush in against the pile to encourage the pile to stand upright.

STEP 9

Enjoy and show off to your friends and family!

TIP:  The edges can be left open, nailed using broad headed nails, or secured using tanalised timber edging boards. Stanley knife is best, but use with care and safety.
